Released on April 2005, Sylvain Marcotte Trio's latest album"Over the Rainbow", was recorded Live at Cabaret Box Office in Drummondville on May 21st and 22nd 2004.
Felted environment and original settings point out the jazz clubs of the 50's. However, electroacoustic sonorities gives a very new direction to the trio. The sounds generated by the use of synthetizers and electric bass push the creativity even further then ever.
Mainly made up of original stuff, "Over the Rainbow" reveals many different moods pushing back the limits of the trio beyond jazz music.
The spirit of each musician and the cohesion of their playing are shown through an intense and lyrical music where expression has no limit. Communication and intuitive exchange result in group improvisation, allowing experimentation and denoting the creativity and the boldness of the trio. Also, because it was recorded live, energy is at its height and the complicity between the three musicians allows, through improvisation, the expression of their strongest passion. |
